Long established and respected meat processor T.G. Sargeant in association with Westly Consulting approached HBCL Coldstores late 2018 / early 2019 to discuss not only plans for a brand new extension, but also a project to bring back into use a redundant pig slaughtering room, as a beef chilling unit.
HBCL liaised both with Jane Sargeant and Alastair Beacon @ Westley carrying out extensive surveys, aspiring to fully understand client needs. Bespoke CAD drawings were produced and tweaked. Prices were then submitted for approval.
Alistair and Jane were satisfied with our competitive bid, once final design was rubber stamped, but importantly, they took great comfort from HBCL’s strong resume in the meat industry, coupled not only with a great resource with our own specialist door production, but also with our back up, in-house specialist installation with a can do attitude.
HBLC were delighted to be awarded the works and we got underway in the July/August period. Some demolition works took place initially and then we went to work with the necessary PIR insulated panels, new meat rail doors and wall protection. Further challenges were the linking in of both doors to the existing chill area to the new room and also installing > 6.0m ceiling panels in between the primary meat-rail supporting steelwork.
The work is now complete and both Jane Sargeant and Alistair Beacon are delighted with the outcome and we look forward to working with them on their new extension.
